Hotel, facilities and ambience are good. When it comes to the rooms and toilets it shows it ages. Spilled water not draining properly. The most terrible part was the mattress. Its high time they must upgrade the mattresses. When we lie on it the entire matress shrinks to the side we turn. Maybe the springs are no longer good. It was very uncomfortable to sleep on it and I was having back pain and muscle pain. If you are lying on the middle of the mattress it you can sleep atleast. Otherwise it was a sleepless night.
Excellent place and has a heritage feel to it. Its got a great gym and some very good food to add to this. However, the team definitely needs to revamp and renovated the rooms. There are cracks in the tubs with moss and back color on the ceilings. The beds need to be revamp which make noise.
Mountview is a landmark and popular hotel with sprawling lawns and gardens all around at a prime location. But it badly requires an upgrade and renovation. Despite its size and location, it doesnt exude a premium vibe; rather it feels very sarkari. The rooms are spacious with balconies. But the bathroom fittings are very old and some corners are quite grimy. The worst part was the breakfast service. They were short staffed and the food and service, everything was quite bad. The overall service quality is good though, partly because most of the staff are old timers. I have experienced their hospitality many times.
I recently stayed for one night at Hotel Mountview Chandigarh, and honestly, my experience was very disappointing. For a 5-star property, it felt more like a 2-star stay, especially considering how expensive it is. First of all, the check-in experience was extremely poor. The receptionist was rude and spoke in a very unprofessional manner. I was made to wait for a long time without any valid reason, even though I clearly saw another guest check out from the same room category I had booked. After already waiting for almost an hour, I was told that the room would take another three hours to get ready, which made no sense because preparing a room normally doesn’t take that long. When I finally received a room, it was not even what I had booked. I had reserved a double-bed room but was initially given a single-bed room. After further delays, they changed the room, but the new one was missing basic amenities that were promised during booking — no slippers, no bathrobe, and other essentials. When I asked the staff, I was simply told that they had run out of these items, which is unacceptable for a hotel of this category. My booking included breakfast, but the next morning I was shocked to see that there was only one food option available. I travel frequently and usually stay in 4-5 star hotels where at least 5–8 breakfast options are standard. On top of that, the taste of the food was extremely disappointing. Overall, my stay was far below expectations, and I genuinely regret choosing this hotel. I honestly wish I could file a complaint and get a refund for such a poor experience.
Was a luxury hotel in the past. The ambience and charm of the past combined well. Spacious and well lit. However, what is noticeable is the lack of politeness of the staff. The service culture was absent across the hotel be it the bell boy, the receptionists, the security and at the in-house dining. Choices of food and the taste was insipid. The fittings in the rooms, are well past their prime. Enforcement of smoking rules in rooms appear lax. Initially I was allotted a room in a non-floor, but the room reeked of smoke. Upon pointing out, the staff allotted a proper non-smoking room to my relief.
