I recently visited this pet shop to buy a hamster. The hamster available seemed very young and not of good quality. The shop also had a bad odour, which was unpleasant. Prices are quite high — they charge ₹750 for a single hamster. I found this expensive, especially since I later bought a pair in Bangalore for ₹800 from another shop. Most items here also seem overpriced. Additionally, the staff had difficulty communicating, as they didn’t know the local language or English properly. Overall, I feel the shop is overpriced and needs improvement in hygiene and customer service.

He took the time to explain in detail about the macaw’s care, diet, behavior, and daily needs, which really helped me feel confident as a buyer. The macaw I purchased is healthy, active, and well-socialized, clearly showing the care and attention given at the shop. What truly stood out was the excellent after-delivery support — Mr. Subin Kaloor personally called to check on the well-being of the parrot and to make sure everything was going well. This shows genuine care and responsibility, which is rare to find. I highly recommend Heavy Petting to anyone looking for a trustworthy place to buy parrots or other pet birds. We had a very unfortunate experience here. A hamster that was sold to us was only about 25 days old, yet it was confidently described as “completely fine” and suitable as a pet. When we asked questions and raised concerns, we were told we were overthinking it. We also purchased the cage based on their guidance. The very next day, the hamster was not active at all—he was not playing and was sleeping continuously. We called the shop while he was still alive to explain the situation and ask for guidance. Initially, the owner spoke politely, but the conversation soon turned uncomfortable, and he began shouting at my mother. Later, he justified his behavior by saying he raised his voice because she “was not understanding,” which felt extremely unprofessional and distressing. Sadly, within two hours of that call, the hamster passed away. Small pets like hamsters require proper age, care, and clear guidance. They should not be sold without ensuring the buyer fully understands how to take care of them. Pets are not products, we bring them home to care for them, not to lose them due to misinformation. I hope the shop takes this feedback seriously and improves how they educate customers and handle such sensitive situations in the future.
